🧶 What about area rug Fibers?

Area rug fibers affect how a rug feels, wears, handles spills, and responds to cleaning.

Here’s a quick look—from the most delicate to the more durable:

5️⃣ Viscose

Soft and beautiful, often made to resemble silk—but it is also a very weak and delicate fiber. It can lose strength when wet and may be damaged by moisture, spills, traffic, or improper cleaning.

4️⃣ Silk

Luxurious, soft, and known for its beautiful sheen. Silk is delicate and sensitive to moisture, staining, abrasion, and harsh cleaning.

3️⃣ Jute, Sisal & Plant Fibers

These rugs add natural texture but are sensitive to moisture. Improper cleaning may cause staining, browning, shrinking, or changes in shape.

2️⃣ Wool

Soft, durable, and naturally resilient. A quality wool rug can last for years but requires proper care and the correct cleaning process.

1️⃣ Synthetic Fibers

Polypropylene, polyester, and nylon are generally durable, affordable, and easier to maintain. Many are stain resistant and practical for busy homes, kids, and pets.

💡 “Best” doesn’t always mean most expensive. Every fiber has different strengths and challenges.

At Classic Care, we inspect every rug before cleaning to determine the safest process.
