Do you worry about accidental spills on your beautiful upholstery or carpet? Whether you have a family with kids, pets or you yourself occasionally has a spill or two, Scotchguard Carpet Protector for your furniture and carpets is a wise decision.
Almost all residential carpets manufactured today are treated at the mill with a protector for soil resistance and an acid dye blocker for stain resistance. Even so, mill treatments will diminish over time through normal wear and tear as well as cleaning.
What Does Scotchguard Carpet Protector Do?
It’s a thin layer of Scotchguard protectant that we apply to carpet, rugs and upholstery to ward off stains. It can protect your carpets and upholstery against most incidents, but don’t try to test its durability with a bottle of Merlot!
Scotchguard carpet protector is intended to prevent stains, dirt, and grime from penetrating the fibers of your carpet or upholstery. The chemical is safe and extremely effective when applied correctly with the accurate measurements and techniques.
Our residential carpet protection application is “commercial grade” thus affording a much more effective protection for your carpets and upholstery.
How Does it Work
The carpet protector repels most liquids, allowing spills to be removed before staining can occur. The liquids bead up on carpet treated with the residential carpet protection and can be simply blotted off.
It is important that the product be applied properly, so that it creates a protective shield that repels liquid, dirt and grime, giving you the time to clean spills and prevent stains.
If you spill a glass of red wine on a carpet without carpet protector, you will see the carpet turn a pink color as the wine absorbs into the fiber. If you spill that same glass of wine and your carpet is protected, you will see the wine bead up and remain on top of the carpet. Now you have extra time to run and grab some paper towel, apply it to the spill and let the liquid absorb into that, rather than your carpet.
How Often Should Carpet Protector by Applied
Carpet protector should be reapplied after every carpet or upholstery cleaning (9-12 months), depending on how much use the treated area gets. Whatever it is that you’re having carpet protector applied to, we recommend a steam cleaning first. There’s really no point in adding protectant to a dirty rug or piece of furniture.
The purpose of the carpet protector is to give you extra time needed to clean up a spill which prevents a stain.
